This Guide is designed to assist users of Scalable Display Software to successfully implement MPCDI V.1 with Dataton Watchout V.6. Before moving forward, it is assumed that the user has completed all necessary calibration steps within the Scalable software to be able to export an MPCDI file.
Note
It is important to note that Dataton Watchout Version 6 only supports MPCDI Version 1 files. If your system requires the use of MPCDI Version 2 files, please upgrade to Dataton Watchout Version 7 and refer to our Quickstart Guide specific to that version.
Exporting From Scalable
After configuration and calibration of your screen is complete, please navigate to the Exports Panel in Scalable and follow these few steps to export your MPCDI Version 1 file.
- Select MPCDI from the list of available warp application methods within Scalable.
- Select 1 under MPCDI Version, and it is recommended to leave all other settings set to default.
- Select Update Calibration. The Scalable.mpcdi calibration file will be written out to - C:\Program Files\Scalable Display\DEI\SystemData\DefaultSystem\LastCalibration - Remember this location for when it is time to upload this file into Dataton Watchout.
Dataton Watchout 6 Setup
Ensure that your Host PC has a licensed Watchout Production instance running, and every needed Client device has a licensed Watchout Display instance running.
- On the Host machine, when you start Watchout Production, you will be prompted to either start a new show or load a previously saved show.
- Choose a location to save your show, and you will be redirected to the workspace of Watchout 6.
- At this time, you can also ensure all clients have a running instance of Watchout Display.
- Navigate to the menu bar at the top of your Production workspace and select File > Import Display/Projector Setup > MPCDI.
- The "Import MPCDI Setup" menu will open, and you will browse your PC for the Scalable.MPCDI file that was exported from Scalable. The default path for this file is: C:\Program Files\Scalable Display\DEI\SystemData\DefaultSystem\LastCalibration.
- Select Base for "Import to tier named" and select OK. Scalable Blend Files for each projector will populate in the Media Window.
- Navigate to the Stage Window and right-click a projector to select it. Select Specifications, and input the device IP running Watchout Display for that projector.
- Ensure that your "Output Configuration" matches your system setup and that you assign a channel # to the projector. This numbering starts at "1" and goes up, but Scalable files start at "0" and go up, so ensure that projector 0 is channel 1, projector 1 is channel 2...
- Select Test Connection to see if Watchout Production is communicating with Watchout Display.
- Repeat Steps 7-9 for each projector in your system.
- To add content for playback to your project, navigate to the Menu Bar at the top of your Production screen and select Media > Add Media File.
- The content you add will populate in the Media Window and needs to be dragged to the "Main Timeline" in order to show through your projectors.
- To enable playback across your clients, navigate to the Menu Bar at the top of your Production Workspace, select Stage > Online (CTRL L).

- To end playback and quit Watchout Display, use CTRL Q on your client.
